Youth Program Coordinator
Part-time, inter-seasonal — Spring through Fall 2026
The Youth Program Coordinator leads GVI's Summer Youth Leadership Program, overseeing up to 10 Bridgeport high school participants through an immersive summer of urban farming, food justice education, and leadership development.
This role manages day-to-day program operations, curriculum delivery, field trips, and graduation, and serves as the primary liaison between GVI, youth participants, families, and community partners. Candidates with experience in youth development, education, or mentoring would be perfect for the role. Bilingual applicants and Bridgeport residents strongly encouraged to apply. Up to $25/hour based on experience.
Youth Program Assistant
Part-time, seasonal — June through August 2026
The Youth Program Assistant works directly alongside the Youth Program Coordinator to support Bridgeport teens through the Youth Summer Leadership Program at Reservoir Community Farm.
Responsibilities include facilitating or supporting workshops and field trips, supporting daily farm operations, tracking attendance and payroll, and helping build a positive, inclusive team culture rooted in GVI's values.
We are looking for someone personable, reliable, and committed to youth empowerment and food justice. Bilingual applicants and Bridgeport residents strongly encouraged to apply. Up to $22/hour based on experience.
Youth Program Intern
Part-time, seasonal — May through August 2026
GVI is seeking one college student to intern with the Youth Leadership Program team for the 2026 summer season.
The intern supports program data collection, meal train coordination, workshop facilitation, photo documentation, supply management, and graduation logistics. This is a hands-on learning opportunity for students interested in nonprofit management, youth development, urban agriculture, and food justice.
Strong communication skills, comfort with Google Suite, and a positive team attitude are essential. Local candidates preferred. $18/hour stipend. This position is open to students at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield University, Bridgeport University, and other accredited colleges and universities, including state universities and community colleges..
Internship & Work Study Opportunities:
GVI welcomes college and graduate students from a wide range of fields to join our team. Our internships are hands-on placements where students contribute to real work while gaining direct experience in a community-based urban agriculture setting.
We work with students and academic advisors to structure placements that meet program requirements. Fields that find meaningful work at GVI include social work, education, public health and nutrition, environmental studies, nonprofit management, and communications.
All placements include direct mentorship from a senior staff member, flexible scheduling built around academic commitments, access to fresh farm produce, and BGT bus passes. Stipends are available depending on the nature of the placement and funding availability.
GVI partners with Sacred Heart University, Fairfield University, and other Connecticut institutions to facilitate academic credit and work study arrangements.
