Apply to be our School Garden Program Manager

·Hundreds of students garden at Bridgeport public schools. Garden champions at schools, usually teachers, engage students in seeding, maintaining, and harvesting their garden. GVI provides support and resources to foster successful school gardens. We deliver seedlings, soil, crop plans and garden tools, host educational farm field trips benefiting students and teachers, and provide one-on-one technical assistance and garden rebuilds when possible. Through a collaboration with Sacred Heart University, we now offer school garden lesson plans that meet Bridgeport curriculum standards; coupled with Professional Development opportunities for teachers, this increases teacher confidence and ability to use school gardens as an outdoor classroom.

The Program Manager will develop and implement and annual academic-year plan for our School Garden Program with goals and milestones resulting in more strategic technical assistance and support to School Garden Champions throughout Bridgeport.This position consists of both indoor and field-based work, requiring the ability to multi-task, work outdoors in hot and cold weather, conduct garden and farm work (including heavy lifting), and be part of a passionate team dedicated to helping each other achieve goals in creating a more just food system in Bridgeport.

Apply to be our Youth Leadership Program Manager

We cultivate youth as agents of social change through urban agriculture. Youth are a growing force at Reservoir Community Farm and participate in regular workshops in food justice, leadership development, community building, and job skills.

The Program Manager will further develop and implement our year-round program strategy for our Youth Leadership Program. The program is multifaceted and includes: an intensive 8-week summer component in which we hire and train 12 Youth Farm Crew members, a year-round Food Justice Fellowship engaging up to 4 young people in organizing and activism, and monthly meetings for all youth to stay engaged in our mission and our work with partner organizations.

Our Youth Leadership Program Manager will oversee our seasonal Youth Leadership Program Coordinator from spring to fall, up to 4 Youth Fellows annually, and up to 12 Youth Farm Crew members during the summer.
