Youth Program Coordinator
GVI’s Assistant Youth Program Coordinator will work closely with the School Garden and Youth Program Manager by: Planning for and co-running our 8 week Summer Youth Crew Program, following GVI’s program curriculum to teach youth about food justice, coordinating with guest speakers, supporting the recruitment and interview process for the 8 week Summer Youth Crew Program, procuring donations and supplies, and creating and maintaining data collection tools. The Assistant Youth Program Coordinator will develop a set of strategies that will lead to a strengthened Youth Leadership Program. These strategies will bolster the impact for our young people and their community, facilitate long-term growth, and improve the program’s curriculum and impact over the long-term.
School Garden Intern
Hundreds of students garden at Bridgeport public schools. Garden champions at schools, usually teachers, engage students in seeding, maintaining, and harvesting their garden with GVI’s support and resources. Our School Garden Program Internship is field-based, which requires the ability to work outside, withstand summer weather for long periods of time, conduct garden or farm work (including heavy lifting), and be part of a passionate team dedicated to helping each other achieve goals and helping our community of growers with their garden plots. This position will develop and maintain relationships with school gardeners in our network, respond to gardeners’ needs through acquiring and disbursing resources as needed and appropriate, and collect data and organization.
