School Field Trips
to Reservoir Community Farm
Welcome Teachers! Each year, approximately 200 Bridgeport students visit Reservoir Community Farm for hands-on field trips that bring experiential learning to life. Students leave with practical knowledge and a deeper connection to where food comes from skills they carry back to their schools and communities.
GVI operates Bridgeport's only outdoor educational urban farm, offering up to 10 free field trips annually to Bridgeport Public Schools, grades 1 through 8. Field trips are designed to support classroom learning through direct engagement with urban agriculture, food systems, and environmental stewardship.
We are currently accepting field trip applications for the 2026 season.
Teachers and educators with questions are welcome to contact us at info@gogvi.org before registering
Field Trips Information
for Guardians
Reservoir Community Farm looks forward to welcoming your student for a hands-on visit covering seeding, transplanting, weed identification, composting, and pollinator habitat.
Permission slip and photo opt-out forms are provided directly to teachers upon registration. Both forms must be submitted to Green Village Initiative before the day of the visit. Students without a completed permission slip on file cannot participate.
Please review the following information before your student's visit:
-
We have a beehive and bees at the farm. If your student has an allergy to bees, please inform their teacher and provide an Epi-Pen for their visit. If an Epi-Pen is not available or teachers are not able to administer the medicine to your student, we ask that you make alternate plans.
-
We ask that your student wear heavy-soled, closed-toe shoes, sunscreen, and farm-appropriate clothing (like long pants) that can get dirty! Please pack them snacks, and a refillable water bottle to keep them energized as they learn about farming in Bridgeport.
-
Please note that your field trip organizers are requested to provide any allergy or special accommodation information to Green Village Initiative in advance of this trip.
-
Your student will not be permitted to participate in this field trip without the submission of the attached, filled out and signed, Permission Slip.
