Welcome to GREEN VILLAGE INITIATIVE!

Our mission is to grow food, knowledge, leadership and community, through urban gardening and farming, to create a more just food system in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

GVI is a nonprofit organization whose been driven by this mission of creating a more just food system for fifteen years in Bridgeport.
GVI grows food justice in Bridgeport through programming that includes:
supporting a network of 12 community-run gardens,
a Youth Leadership program that employs up to 12 youth during the summer in addition to academic year programming,
and our educational urban farm, Reservoir Community Farm, with support services available to our City’s school garden network!
We recognize the importance of addressing the systemic inequities that cause poverty and hunger in our city and we are working towards a Bridgeport in which all people can access healthy, culturally relevant, locally grown foods at school, at work, and at home.

Your charitable gift will help us create lasting opportunities for our neighbors.
