Diego Osses (he/him)

Transition Director

Diego Osses is an Agricultural engineer with an MBA and a Masters degree in Finance who has extensive experience in farm management, international business development, and diplomacy. He brings over 25 years of experience developed in both his home country of Chile and abroad in countries such as China and Thailand. Diego is a graduate from the MS in Finance program at the University of Bridgeport School of Business. During his first year working with GVI, Diego was responsible for coordinating the 3 main GVI programs: Reservoir Community Farm, Community Gardens, and Youth Leadership; contributing to the GVI mission of creating a more just food system in Bridgeport. Currently, Diego is actively planning the extension of GVI programs throughout 2024 and exploring innovative methods of community engagement through urban gardening and farming.

Andrés Torres-Alvarez (he/him)

Community Gardens Coordinator

Andrés, originally from Puerto Rico, brings a wealth of experience in community outreach and volunteer work. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico and is currently pursuing a Master in Public Health focusing on Community Health at Fairfield University. In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, Andrés played a pivotal role in coordinating volunteer efforts and addressing food access needs on the island. This experience honed his skills in community engagement and fueled his passion for public health initiatives. At Green Village Initiative, Andrés spearheaded the renovation of 5 out of 12 community gardens across Bridgeport in 2023, helping facilitate access to fresh, healthy food for over 200 families. Additionally, 4 students from the Bridgeport community graduated from the Urban Farming Training Course offered by GVI and the University of Connecticut with the help of his coordination. His dedication to fostering community wellness aligns perfectly with GVI's mission.

Maegan Bogetti (she/her)

Outreach Coordinator

Maegan originally began working with GVI as an intern through her participation in the Yale Conservation Scholars Early Leadership Initiative in the Summer of 2022. She continued working with GVI remotely in a new role as Outreach Coordinator while she completed her B.A. in Global Studies and Environmental and Sustainability Studies with a minor in Gender Studies at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. She is currently completing an environmental justice focused Fulbright grant in Naples, Italy before she returns to CT to complete her Masters of Environmental Management with a concentration in People, Equity, and the Environment at Yale. In her role with GVI, she has managed communications across the website, newsletter, and social media, as well as working directly with community partners and actualizing The Food Justice Framework project. She is passionate about community-focused-and-led environmental justice initiative and is grateful for the professional and personal experience she has gained in this capacity as a part of the GVI team.
