Urban Farmer Training Program

Green Village Initiative is excited to partner with UConn Agricultural Extension to bring their Urban Farmer Training Program to Bridgeport! This course focuses on Botany, Soils, Vegetable Production, Entomology, Integrated Pest Management, Business Planning, Growing for Market, and much more! Participants in this program will sell produce together at Bridgeport Farmers Markets in the 2018 season.  


A yearlong commitment is required, starting November 16th, and continuing on Thursday evenings (except holidays).

This includes:

·       Indoor classes weekly, evenings (at 510 Barnum Ave, Bridgeport) for 2 hours per week;

·       Outdoor field work (at 122 Arctic Street, Bridgeport) for 80 hours during the growing season;

·       Farmers Market work, (at various locations), for 40 hours during the growing season.

The cost to participate is $300, which covers the yearlong, weekly, intensive course. We believe that this program can provide skills and knowledge for more robust urban farming opportunities in Bridgeport.
