Our 2019 Summer Youth Farm Crew will start June 22nd. This summer, 12 High School Youth will be enrolled in our 8-week urban farming, food justice and leadership development program. The Youth Leadership Program cultivates young food leaders in Bridgeport by developing skills in agricultural knowledge, food justice, career readiness, and leadership.
Applications will be accepted until April 29th.
Youth must submit a recommendation along with their application. The recommendation form is included in the application.

· Reservoir Community Farm, GVI’s 1.7 acre urban farm is a demonstration farm for growers across the city, a welcoming gathering and learning space for the community, and home to our weekly farm stand. Each year, we grow, sell and donate about 5,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce for the community. Over 400 hundred students, teachers, community gardeners and visitors participate in our community events, farming and food justice workshops, and educational field trips each year.
We are hiring for 3 positions: Assistant Farm Manager, Farm Crew, and Farm Stand Crew.

Youth Program Coordinator
GVI’s Assistant Youth Program Coordinator will work closely with the School Garden and Youth Program Manager by: Planning for and co-running our 8 week Summer Youth Crew Program, following GVI’s program curriculum to teach youth about food justice, coordinating with guest speakers, supporting the recruitment and interview process for the 8 week Summer Youth Crew Program, procuring donations and supplies, and creating and maintaining data collection tools. The Assistant Youth Program Coordinator will develop a set of strategies that will lead to a strengthened Youth Leadership Program. These strategies will bolster the impact for our young people and their community, facilitate long-term growth, and improve the program’s curriculum and impact over the long-term.

We are seeking an Operations Assistant to strengthen our community outreach and communications, support recruitment and hiring, and support day-to-day operations and programming. Our Operations Assistant will engage broad audiences in our mission and programs through following and continually improving our communications and social media strategies. This position will involve some field work, including participating in farm field trips and events. This requires the ability to work outside and withstand summer weather for long periods of time, and a passion for gardening or farming and working with community members of all ages.
