4th Annual Harvest Bites & Booze

Tuesday, November 13th, 6pm-9pm

@ Read's Artspace - 1042 Broad St, Bridgeport, CT 06604

Join Green Village Initiative (GVI) in celebrating urban agriculture and healthy eating in Bridgeport. This November we will host our 4th Annual Harvest Bites & Booze fundraiser in Bridgeport. In the past over 100 attendees have celebrated urban agriculture with us, in an evening of locally sourced food, networking, and good fun.

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and all funds raised directly support our mission and our work in the Bridgeport community.

We have sponsorship levels ranging from $250 up to $2,500.

As a sponsor, you will have a significant impact on the community through supporting our programs:

Our mission is to grow food, knowledge, leadership and community through urban gardening and farming, to create a more just food system in Bridgeport. We manage 23 school gardens, 13 community gardens, an urban farm and a youth leadership program. Our programs engage thousands of community members in growing and consuming Bridgeport-grown food; all produce is grown without the use of harmful chemicals for the local community.

Reservoir Community Farm is a demonstration farm for growers across the city, a learning space for the community, and home to our biweekly farm stand. Each year, we grow, sell and donate over 5,000 pounds of fresh, healthy produce for the community. Over 400 visitors participate in our community events and workshops each year.

Our Youth Leadership Program cultivates youth as agents of social change through urban agriculture. Youth are the primary growing force at Reservoir Community and benefit from workshops in food justice, leadership development, community building, and job skills.

23 School Gardens provide hundreds of students with opportunities to garden and learn in an outdoor setting.  A partnership with Sacred Heart University has resulted in school garden lesson plans that tie directly into the Bridgeport curriculum.

13 Community Gardens provide opportunities for over 200 gardeners to grow food that may be unavailable in their neighborhoods. A partnership with UConn Extension launched an Urban Farmer training program for gardeners interested in growing for market.
